Which way do you put the sunshade in your car windsheild?

I have a hawaiian print sunshade and I was putting the print facing out and my brother said you are supposed to put the reflective (silver) side out to block the sun. What’s the point in having a print on your sunshade if you can’t show it off? Does it matter which side it’s on?

It doesn’t actually make much difference, the reflective side only reflects the visible spectrum, the infrared that gets through the glass is what causes the heat, and no matter what you put up there, the heat still wont get out. The sun shade really stops direct sun on the car interior surfaces and prevents that from getting hot. the best place for the sun shade is actually on the outside of the glass stopping the light and therefore heat getting through in the first place !!! Needs to be held down pretty well though !!
